Pakistan is set to host the 23rd meeting of the Council of the Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Islamabad on Tuesday and Wednesday.
During a media briefing in Islamabad on Sunday, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, alongside Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, announced the preparations, highlighting the effective collaboration of all institutions and departments to ensure the summit’s success.
The meeting will feature prime ministers and high-ranking officials from SCO member states, including Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, as well as the First Vice President of Iran. The External Affairs Minister of India and Premier of the State Council of China, Li Qiang, will also represent their countries.
The agenda will focus on enhancing cooperation across various sectors, including economy, trade, environment, and socio-cultural linkages, while also reviewing the organization’s overall performance. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to engage in important bilateral meetings with the heads of delegations during the summit.
Established on June 15, 2001, the SCO aims to strengthen multilateral cooperation, promote peace and security, and establish a new economic international order.
