The Indian censor board has pulled Akshay Kumar’s popular anti-smoking ad, known as “Nandu,” from theatres after a six-year run.
For the past six years, audiences in India have seen Akshay Kumar’s anti-smoking ad before every movie screening. However, reports have confirmed that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has decided to discontinue the ad, replacing it with another anti-smoking message.
Though the reasons for this decision remain unclear, many moviegoers have expressed their nostalgia for the ad, with some even saying they remember its dialogues by heart.
A multiplex cinema official commented, “It was my favorite anti-smoking ad because it conveyed an important message without being too graphic.”
Akshay Kumar’s “Nandu” ad had become iconic, with its dialogues regularly quoted by viewers.
