BEIRUT: Hezbollah’s Deputy Secretary General, Naim Qassem, stated on Tuesday that his group has adopted “a new calculation” aimed at increasing pressure on Israel, despite calling for a ceasefire.
“The solution is a ceasefire; we are not speaking from a position of weakness,” Qassem declared in a televised address. “If the Israelis do not want that, we will continue,” he warned.
He indicated that residents of northern Israel could return home once a ceasefire is established through indirect negotiations. However, he cautioned that continued conflict would lead to more displacement, asserting that “the number of uninhabited settlements will rise, putting hundreds of thousands, even more than two million, at risk at any moment.”
